The Davenport Schools Foundation administers the following scholarships:

Betty Nelson Career Technical Scholarship
(formerly the PTA Vocational-Technical Scholarship)

Amount of Grant: $500 (varies according to earnings)

Number Offered Each Year: 4 – one to each DCSD high school and the Kimberly Center program

Deadline: April 10, 2012

Need Basis: Given consideration

Qualifications: graduating DCSD senior, regular attendance, extracurriculars, intention to attend a career technical training program

Obligations: Letter of recommendation from DCSD teacher in career-technical program, and eventual  enrollment in an accredited 2- or 3-year career-technical training program

Brad Peck Memorial Scholarship (West H.S.)
No application process. Winner chosen by committee.

Amount of Grant: $300 (varies according to earnings)

Number Offered Each Year: 1

Deadline: April 15

Need Basis: Given consideration

Qualifications: Graduating senior male at Davenport West, must be in band and either football or swimming.

Obligations: Verification of enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university in the USA

Brian Keppy Memorial Scholarship (West H.S.)

Amount of Grant: $500

Number Offered Each Year: 1

Deadline: April 6, 2012

Need Basis: High consideration

Qualifications: Graduate by June from West High School with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Obligations: Must have been on football team and shown dedication to weight room.  Letter of recommendation from teacher, counselor or administrator (not a member of selection committee).

Buttleman-Arbisser Journalism Scholarship (CHS)
Applications available at Kemper Hall, Room 14

Amount of Grant: Up to $1,000 (varies according to earnings)

Number Offered Each Year: 1 that can be divided

Deadline: April 15

Need Basis: Given consideration

Qualifications: Graduation by June from Davenport Central H.S., journalism experience with school newspaper, intent to study/work in a communications field

Obligations: Updated stringbook as documentation per syllabus, also verification of enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university in the USA.

CHS Hall of Honor Academic Scholarship
Applications available at CHS Guidance Office

Amount of Grant: $1,500

Number Offered Each Year: 5 total, including three at-large, plus the Jim Hester Scholarship, which goes to a minority student, and the Russell and Ellen Meyers Scholarship, which goes to a student demonstrating significant financial need.

Deadline: March 30, 2012 3:00 p.m.

Number Offered Each Year: Three scholarships - 1 each at Central, North, and West

Deadline: March 23, 2012

Need Basis: Given consideration

Qualifications: 3.25 GPA, 24 ACT, graduation by June from one of the Davenport Community School District's three high schools.  Kimberly Center students apply for this scholarship through home school attendance area.

Obligations:  Essay, letter of reference, interview, verification of enrollment in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university in the USA

Jane Grady Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Amount of Grant: $5,000 over four years

Number Offered Each Year: 1

Deadline: April 4, 2012

Need Basis: Given consideration

Qualifications: 3.25 GPA, 24 ACT, female graduate (by June) of Davenport Community School District who has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in English (especially in writing), mathematics, and science. In order to renew the scholarship, recipient must maintain a full-time schedule and at least a 3.00 GPA.

Jerry Jurgens Athletic/Academic Scholarship (CHS)
No application process. Students selected by coaches.

Amount of Grant: $1,500 each

Number Offered Each Year: 1 male athlete, 1 female athlete, both from Central H.S.

Deadline: April 1, 2012  decision

Need Basis: Given high consideration

Qualifications: Student-athlete at Central High School, nominated by coach, selected by committee of coaches and athletic director. Based on scholarship and citizenship.

Qualifications:  Child of full-time employee of Davenport Community School District.  Graduation by June from a Davenport Community School District high school
