4TH
AT BLUE GRASS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Superintendent James Blanche
and other officials from the Davenport Community
Schools will host a “State of Our Schools” session
on Thursday, March 4, at 5 p.m. at Blue Grass
Elementary School. Open to students, parents and
the public, this session will provide information on
“No Child Left Behind”, the current status of
Davenport schools in regards to the legislation,
future plans, and lobbying tools for those
interested in communicating with area legislators
regarding education issues.
The session will be held in the
Blue Grass Elementary gym. The presentation will
include an overview of “No Child Left Behind” and
the impact the legislation is having on the
Davenport Community Schools – including the status
of various schools in the district in regards to the
“watch list” and “school in need of improvement”
designation.
Information will also be
presented on what steps the district is taking to
meet the challenges of “No Child Left Behind” – as
well as other plans for supporting increased student
achievement. Finally, participants will receive
information regarding ways in which they can
effectively lobby local, state and national
legislators regarding issues important to public
education.
