DAVENPORT SCHOOLS HOST BASKETBALL JAMBOREE
FOR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

The West Family Y will be the site of a basketball jamboree on Thursday, March 11^th, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., as teams representing afterschool programs from several schools with the Davenport Community Schools district get together to show off their basketball skills.

Students from several Discovery Junction sites within the 21^st Century program have been working on their basketball fundamentals for weeks.  The jamboree will feature several actual games between the teams as well as shirts, ribbons and one-day passes to the Y for participating students.  Schools represented at the jamboree will be Buchanan, Hayes, Wilson, McKinley and Lincoln.             

The 21^st Century program provides supervised, coordinated after-school activities at several elementary and intermediate schools in the Davenport district.  Programs include everything from sports and crafts, to special presentations by local artists, business leaders, and social service organizations.
