Cell Phone and Electronic Devices

Definition

Instructional Day
-
The definition of instructional day may vary
slightly from school to school dependent upon
the culture and climate of a particular
building.

In
all cases the instructional day includes time
spent in classes, passing periods between
classes, the lunch period and other
instructional situations.

Teachers planning to use electronic devices for
instructional purposes must secure prior
approval of the building principal each time
they plan to do so.

Consequences
-
When a staff member sees or hears an electronic device during the defined time period, they are and turn over to the administration.

Parents will be notified the device has been confiscated and are required to pick up the device.

A student who refuses to turn over a cell phone or electronic devise when in violation of the policy will be considered insubordinate with consequences appropriate to insubordination, and their personal discipline record.

The building principal has the discretion
to waive this policy in extenuating/individual
circumstances.
