Author Visit in November 

Gary Metivier, local anchorman and children's author, visited the Walcott School Library in November (2011) and presented to all elementary students, K-5. His visit was featured in the North Scott Press. His newest book, Saluting Grandpa, celebrates our veterans.

Author Visit in May

Local YA author and retired West HS English teacher, Jon Ripslinger, visited the Walcott School Library on May 2 (2011) and spoke to our Intermediate Reading students. He shared writing strategies and techniques, and talked about how his inspiration for writing teen novels came from local Quad City events. His most recently published young adult novels are Hustle and Missing Pieces, two electronic books available for download to the Kindle, Nook and other e-readers.
