 Provide support and encouragement to students as a work site role model—an advisor is a key ingredient to any career academy

 Motivate, challenge, and guide a student both personally and professionally

 Time Commitment: 30 mins. or more once a month

 

 JOB SHADOWING

 Invite a student for one-half or whole day into your work environment

 Share insights into your occupation and industry

 Allow observation of your daily activities so the student can relate to the challenges of the workplace

 Experience the reward of students return from this experience full of enthusiasm and an understanding of the skills, training, and education required to excel in your career

 

 WORKSITE TOURS

 Host groups of students and/or staff to learn about your industry

 Invest 1 or more hours allowing your guests to observe your business and work in varied occupations

 Help students better understand the skills required to prepare to enter your workforce

 

 GUEST SPEAKERS

 Share your expertise in a classroom setting

 Describe your industry, occupation, career path and workplace to students

 Describe how you apply academic skills to solve problems and be productive in the workplace

 Provide a video about your industry and/or organization

 Provide handouts, brochures, informational pamphlets, posters, etc.
