Attention Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

Some of you may be receiving in the U.S. Mail a document inviting you (for a fee of $60.00) to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). By all means, if you want to join, be our guest, but please realize that THIS IS NOT NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY!!!! Our WHS Chapter of NHS contacts potential members through the school (notes delivered to students in class) rather than by U.S. Mail, and membership in NHS is only $20.00. Potential members are contacted each February and must be a member of the Junior or Senior class.

Week of February 6, 2012 – Potential Inductees will be contacted via notes delivered during the school day (this will always be the method of contact).

Thursday, February 16, 2012 – Potential Inductees will be attending a meeting during Block 4. This meeting will begin at 1:05 and be finished by 1:50; additional requirements and necessary paperwork to be initiated will be discussed.

Week of March 5, 2012 – Potential Inductees will be notified if they will be initiated this year.

Weeks of March 12 – March 23, 2012 – Potential Inductees will be receiving (via USPS mail) official invitations to the Induction Ceremony.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 – Current Active (Senior) NHS Members will be attending a meeting during Advisory time so as to not disrupt classes. This meeting is necessary for the students to prepare for the ceremony on 04/16/12. Worst case scenario – these students may be a bit late to Block 3.

Friday, April 13, 2012 – New Inductees, Current NHS Officers, Mrs. Jacobsen, and Additional Speakers will be attending a meeting during Block 4. This meeting will begin at 1:05 and be finished by 1:50; it is necessary for the students to prepare for the ceremony on 04/16/12.

Monday, April 16, 2012 – Induction Ceremony in the auditorium begins at 7:30 p.m. A cookie and punch reception in the cafeteria will follow the ceremony. You are all invited to attend and help us celebrate.

Friday, April 20, 2012 – $20 NHS Membership Fee and Officer Petitions are Due.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 – New Members Meeting in Room 239 after school (1:45 p.m.) to vote for officers, discuss volunteer hours, distribute T-Shirts and take the Yearbook Picture (in our new t-shirts).

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 – Conference helpers needed – 3:10 – 5:30.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 – Officer Induction Ceremony – 1:45 in Room 239.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 – Senior Inductee Sandwich Making Session – 1:45 in Room 239.
